We must focus on WHAT MATTERS MOST!

PUBLIC SAFETY = Life saving services are critical to all residents. I know this. As a mother of four boys and the daughter of a 30 year law enforcement veteran, public safety is ingrained within my character and is a top priority.
GOOD NEIGHBORHOODS = Safe, clean parks, well maintained streets, and efficient trash pickup. I will continue to promote events and activities that support family togetherness. We must strike a balance between development and preservation of our open spaces. Once open spaces disappear they are gone forever. We must protect these spaces yet keeping our shopping opportunities accessible and in good repair.
SOUND FISCAL COMMON SENSE = As a long time business owner, I know firsthand the importance of keeping within a budget. I realize we must keep life affordable - No new taxes.
WE DO IT TOGETHER = I oppose Districts which divides us. We need to unite as a community.

PUBLIC SAFETY #1 =
I grew up knowing the risks officers take every hour of every day. West Covina has one of the best Police and Fire Departments in the valley. I work alongside the West Covina Police Officers as a Mounted Enforcement Volunteer and I know how deeply these men and women care about the safety of our residents. With the recent addition of the Graffiti Task Force we can hold the criminals accountable. Crime is down 31% in our town.

The life saving resources of our Fire Department are critical. Two of my sons and I have needed our Firefighters emergency team; I know firsthand how important rescue is! I voted to add the City Ambulance Service. One minute could mean life or death to a resident.

I am endorsed by both Police and Firefighters Associations… here's why!

  • Added Graffiti task force
  • Added Paramedic Firefighters
  • Added City Ambulance service
  • Added more motor officers
  • Expanded GREAT anti gang program
  • Use of technology with Police Helicopter patrol
  • Strengthened Megan's Law regulations to further protect our children
  • Improved our West Covina Service Group - enhances police responsiveness
  • Increased pedestrian safety through traffic improvements at our schools city wide
  • Secured grant funding for emergency preparedness programs
  • Placed Automatic External Defibrillators in City facilities
  • New Public Safety Radio System

GOOD NEIGHBORHOODS =
As a mother of four boys who attend local schools, a PTA board member, home owner, and business owner, I realize the importance of community services to create good neighborhoods. Safe, clean parks, affordable City programs, well maintained streets and efficient City services.

City staff and City Council work closely together to bring the residents needed projects and improvements throughout the community. Please click the "New City Streets" link to see what streets have been re paved.

As you will notice on the map; the City pays close attention assuring "ALL" of West Covina is cared for!

During my tenure I worked to bring West Covina our beautiful Community Center, Hockey Rinks, and one of our most successful businesses in West Covina; the Big League Dreams Sports Plex. These projects have been a great success for our residents and have created a new revenue stream for our City. I supported Hurst Ranch in the addition of the Community Building, the Rose Float Foundation at Heritage Gardens and new housing opportunities at the Senior Villas.

Development must strike a balance with our remaining open spaces. What space is gone we cannot regain and must protect what is left. In 2000 I worked with my neighbors to preserve the Ridge Riders and Maverick Ball Field and it now belongs to West Covina! In 2008 I supported the resident's wishes and voted to expand one of our largest and most beautiful parks in the City, Shadow Oak Park. The views are absolutely beautiful. Spend a sunset with friends or family at Shadow Oak Park, it's absolutely breathtaking.

I will always consider topographical areas of development. Careless development over extends our resources. I encourage the use of our vacant facilities for future growth. West Covina needs open space to enjoy and also places to go to spend time with family and friends.

SOUND FISCAL COMMON SENSE =
No question about it… these are lean times for City budgets everywhere and choices have to be made with the resources we have. Economics is part of how to pay for essential City services. Working with residents and staff, out of the box thinking can bring top notch services and needed revenues to our community.

Adding restaurants, shopping and places to play bring vitality and success to our local businesses. With the addition of the Big League Dreams Sports Plex, this encouraged all the businesses at the Heights to join our community.

City savings:
We are always looking for ways to reduce cost. West Covina has implemented creative ways to reduce costs to the community such as installing energy efficient HVAC system at City Hall and implementing "green" purchasing policies and alternative fuel vehicles. We consolidated City Departments in an effort to streamline City operations and generate savings to the City.

In 2005, I stood strong against wasteful spending! I did not support the $22,000.00 on a survey to ask to tax the residents and DID NOT support giving Alhassen/Clippinger 3.5 million to remodel their auto dealership and forgiving them of a 1.7 million dollar debt to the City. Due to this issue, we are currently working to get debits paid back and have been paid $207,717.00 to date. Please see my "City Fact Page" for details.

I will continue to work to make good choices to keep West Covina focused and on track and with no new taxes..

WE DO IT TOGETHER =

I am deeply concerned about this District measure (Measure D). We need to unite, not divide. If the District measure passes, it will change our democratic process FOREVER!

We will NOT BE REPRESENTED 100%!!
Here's how it works………

(NO ON MEASURE "D")
with the
Current Election Process:

vs

(Measure "D" Districts)
with the
With The District Election Process:

You now vote for five Council members
All five members represent you
You can vote in or out of office all five
All five members are accountable to you
You now vote every two years
You will vote for one Council Member
Only one member represents you
You can vote in or out of office just one
Only one member is accountable to you
You will only vote for one every four years

The four of the elected Council Members you don't vote for with the District measure will not be accountable to you in any way.

I hope you research the District proposal (Measure D) and see how it can affect you and our City's future!

Please check out on my "Links Page" for the group of residents (Don't divide our City) that are speaking out against this District measure. There you will find more information on why to:

VOTE NO ON MEASURE D.
